Preserving your youthful appearance isn’t all about removing your wrinkles. Surprisingly, caring to your teeth is the number one way to turn back time. When you meet someone one of the first things you notice is their smile. Teeth are the brightest, most visual feature on your face.

Your teeth can make you look younger or older, depending on how well you care for them.

Listed here are some of the common age-related dental issues and ways to deal them.

Discolored Teeth:

Hair gets whiter as you age but not your teeth! with age, the outermost layer of tooth enamel thins and exposes the inner dentin, which has a yellowish color. This is unavoidable but smoking or consuming food or drink that would stain your clothes will contribute to discolored teeth especially if you don’t brush immediately afterward.Reasons for grey teeth are different. “This is caused by antibiotic tetracycline, which is used to treat bacterial and respiratory  infections and acne. It increases the calcium level in your teeth making it darker.

Receding Gums:

The thickness of your gum tissue is genetic. Gum disease (gingivitis) is your own doing. Years of plaque buildup and aggressive brushing wear away at your sensitive gum line, giving it a peeled back appearance. Plus age decreases the flow of saliva, which helps to wash away plaque-causing bacteria.

Shifting Teeth:

Teeth have memory! The minute you remove your clips they try to retain their original spot. Fillings and crowns can cause crowding, and chewing and clenching wear down teeth over time, making them smaller and creating gaps – and time there is a gap, teeth will move to fill or even the space!

Fix Teeth Problems:

  • For mild yellowing use teeth whitestrips containing hydrogen peroxide.Maintain results by brushing with a fluoride toothpaste daily.
  • Brushing your teeth correctly is a must. At least two times a day, use a  soft-bristle toothbrush to gently message your teeth in a circular motions along the front, back and sides. And don’t forget to floss!
